Patrick April or “Patto” as he was known, was a member of the Guyana Police Force and a popular football player and butcher in Berbice and Guyana. He went on to represent Berbice on a number of occasions at various levels of the game. He once formed a potent combination with the famous Humphrey, Alphonso, Fords, Inness’s and Samuels’s siblings among others that dominated the football arena in those days.
According to coordinator Neil Humphrey, after discussions with B Division Commander Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam, the Commander readily agreed that the police will sponsor this year’s competition especially since it will be played among schools.
Former National Player Neil “Grizzly” Humphrey is coordinating the activity with assistance from former national Kenrick Bowry and Randy “Blades” Sears. (Samuel Whyte)
