Food for the Poor (FFTP) Guyana celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary on June 3, 2016. The non-profit ecumenical Christian organization came to Guyana on June 3, 1991.
FFTP has a number of activities slated for the month of June, a day of reflection was observed on June 3, last, while on the following day, June 4, there was a public distribution of foodstuff, medical supplies, clothing and household articles. There is a dinner scheduled for June 25 at the Pegasus Hotel and the month of events will conclude with a Fitness Walk on July 3.
The FFTP team hosted an exhibition of their various initiatives in the Officers’ Mess compound at Eve Leary on Wednesday and yesterday, the exhibition showcased samples of foodstuff, household articles, books, stationery, medical supplies and picture collages of events hosted by the FFTP.
Mrs. Andrea Benjamin, the Senior Projects Manager of FFTP, who is in charge of the fitness walk, stated that the theme for the walk is “The walk of champions: Be a champion for the poor.” She noted that the walk will begin from the Bank of Guyana and will end in the National Park, where there will be a fund raising event on the tarmac. She indicated that tickets for the walk cost $3000 and come with a package which includes a t-shirt, water and access to the fund raising event which is a health fair.
