St. John’s – The second round of the Scotiabank Men’s Caribbean Cup ended with Curacao scoring freely, Martinique, St. Kitts and Nevis and the Dominican Republic advancing and Antigua and Barbuda rebounding.
Curacao 7 – 0 USVI
Curacao enjoyed a perfect run in Group 3 defeating the United States Virgin Islands by a similar 7-0 scoreline as Guyana did before their home fans. Curacao’s goals came from Gino Kessei Van, who had a hat-trick (22nd, 24th, 50th) to follow up his double that he netted against Guyana in their 5-0 triumph.
The other goals scorers were Feliticiano Zschusschen (10th, 54th), Leandro Bacuna (45th) and Gevaro Nepomuceno made in the 70th.
Martinique 4 – 0 Dominica
A traveling Martinique defeated Dominica 4-0, completing their Group 1 second round campaign with 6 points; they defeated Guadeloupe 2-0. Johan Audel opened the scoring in the 6th minute followed by Joroy Delam who made it 2-0 in the 47th minute. Bruno Grougi and Gleeven Lawgil finished the scoring in the 58th and 69th minute respectively.
French Guiana 1 – 2 Dominican Republic
A double from veteran forward Jonathan Frias saw the Dominican Republic coming from behind to overcome French Guiana 2-1 at home to follow up on their 1-0 win over Bermuda. French Guiana opened the scoring through Rhudy Evens in the 22nd minute. Jonathan Frias equalized right after the break in the 47th minute. His second came in the 53rd minute to seal the Dominican Republic victory.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines 0 – 1 St. Kitts and Nevis
St. Kitts and Nevis continued their perfect form after defeating Suriname with victory via a similar score line over St. Vincent and the Grenadines at Arnos Vale Stadium. The lone goal of the match came in the 6th minute off the boot of Javiem Blachette. St. Vincent and the Grenadines tried their utmost for the neutralizing goal which never came.
Antigua and Barbuda 5 – 1 Grenada
After defeat at the hands of Puerto Rico (1-2), Antigua and Barbuda, urged on by their home fans bounced back to hammer Grenada 5-1. The scoring didn’t start until the second half with goals from Peter Byers (51st) and a double by Calaum Martin in the 67th and 83rd minute.
Kieran Murtagh converted in the 76th minute and Tevaughn Harriette one minute later. Jamal Charles had scored Grenada’s consolation goal in the 73rd minute.
