During yesterday’s session at the National Procurement and tender Administration Board (NPTAB), there were bids to provide supervision services for the reconstruction of the North Eastern dam of the East Demerara Water Conservancy. Three engineering firms submitted bids.
Three months ago, a contract had been put out for the dam to be reconstructed. The project is under the Ministry of Agriculture. The rebuilding of this dam has been on the agenda for years, with Government advertising for consultants last year.
This multi-million-dollar project was funded by the World Bank, under the Flood Risk Management Project. It is understood that the terms of reference entail works reaching three metres high and at least four kilometres in length.
The notice had listed the main tasks of the consultants as the general administration of the contract and the supervision of works, in accordance with the requirements of the Construction Supervision and Quality Assurance Plan. It is expected to last 30 calendar months.
Under the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) for Region six, there was a multi-million-dollar contract for provision of security services.
A contract was also put out for the construction of a science laboratory at the Canje Secondary School. The engineer’s estimate was $15.9M.
There was also a tender for the construction of a science laboratory at Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam. The engineer’s estimate was $15.9M.
Meanwhile, under the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) there were bids for printing, folding and delivery of brochures, booklets and posters to the Agency.
And finally, there was a tender for the supply and delivery of tea, janitorial and stationery supplies, also under GEA.
