Bandits on Sunday morning broke into a liquor restaurant of Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice.
The occupants were not at home at the time of the incident.
Manager of the restaurant, Kelly Datt, stated that they left home on Saturday evening to attend a function on West Coast Berbice.
It was her father who made the discovery after he ventured home first at 3:00 hours on Sunday and informed her of the break in.
The manager said that she immediately ventured to the home and found the entire house ransacked.
The bandits gained entry by breaking a few boards from the front walls of the home.
“When I came in, the first thing I see was the hole in the wall so I rush in to see what and what they take and we saw that they take some of the local rum but that’s all the goods they take”.
Datt added they then ventured to the upper flat and discovered that the bandits carted off an undisclosed amount of US and local currency. She mentioned that the bandits left a box of expensive liquor untouched.
“They take all the money we needed fah buy goods suh we can’t buy nothing. We gotta borrow and trust fah restock,” Datt stressed.
An old typewriter which resembled a money safe was also of interest to the bandits but was left behind after they failed to unlock it.
Kelly Datt also added that although police were summoned to the scene, no one came to investigate.
Meanwhile according to a police source, the matter is currently under investigations.
