The Guyana Press Association yesterday said it is saddened by the untimely passing of journalist Dale Andrews. He was 47.
The body noted that the newspaper’s chief crime reporter started his journalistic career at the then Guyana Broadcasting Corporation in the early 1990s and in 2001 joined Kaieteur News, where he served as an Editor until his death.
“Andrews would be remembered for his dedication to the profession and his colleagues have noted his deep and enduring passion for news.”
According to GPA, Adam Harris, Editor-in-chief of Kaieteur News recalled that Andrews covered many stories over his tenure, notably the 2002 Camp Street jailbreak and countless stories that touched on crime and security and social issues.
President of the Guyana Press Association, Neil Marks, pointed out that Andrews “treated every story with the same amount of excitement and dedication as if it were his biggest story ever”.
“Andrews would also be remembered for his willingness to guide young reporters, giving advice whenever needed. GPA offers its sincerest condolences to Andrews’ immediate family, friends and colleagues.
