A story doing de rounds in Mabaruma bout a senior man who believe he is a Mammy. Now de whole village calling him ‘Come to Mammy.”
De story start when a woman lef she baby in de hospital. This man go in de place and see de baby and tek it. He carry it home. He feed, bathe and powder de baby and do everything a woman does do fuh a child.
De villagers felt nice about him tekking de child but wha cause de story is when he insist that de child call him Mammy.
Neighbours seh every day he come home he hollering from de dam, “Baby come to Mammy.”
Dem boys seh that is Jagdeo appoint him because he does operate just like Jagdeo who feed, bathe and powder de entire party. But dem boys hear he had problem wid one person and that is de one who use to bruck up nice things all over de country.
He feed this man and powder him but he didn’t bathe him. This is de man dem boys hear who frighten water. Now everywhere he go he smellin and smelling terrible. And is not dem boys seh suh.
Another man seh when dem deh at a meeting he colleagues have Schilling Oil to dem nose just to keep away de smell.
One day he visit a man office and when he lef de man vomit.
This is a man who smell throughout El Nino. Now El Nino come and gone and de man still smelling like bunch of dead dogs.
When people seh that a man rotten to de core, is a man like this dem talking about.
Talk half and hope that water never run out in Guyana.
