No local Radio Commentary for Tri-nation series
Both the morning and afternoon practices sessions scheduled for yesterday at the Providence Stadium were washed due the heavy rain.
South Africa were set to practice from 09:00hrs to noon, while West Indies, who had a ‘net’ and fielding drills under lights on Tuesday evening, were scheduled to practice from 14:00hrs to 17:00hrs.
Providence is the fastest drying International cricket venue in the world and unless there is rain during ‘playing hours’ there will be play. If however, it rains all day and no play is possible, fans receive a full refund.
South Africa and West Indies clash for the first time in ODI cricket in Guyana tomorrow from 13:00hrs at Providence in the first ever Day/Night International game to be played here. Gates will be opened from 11:00hrs.
Tickets for the Party Stand cost $2,000, Orange ($3,000) while $4,000 gets you into the Green and Red Stands.
Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free but those who purchase Tickets and are desirous of taking children to the games are reminded to ask for a ticket for the child. Tickets are also being sold on-line
Tickets for the Green Stand for Sunday’s game between West Indies and number one raked and five times World Cup Champions Australia have already been sold out. The final game of the Guyana leg is fixed for Tuesday and involves South Africa and Australia. All games commence at 13:00hrs.
Meanwhile, local listeners will not be able hear live radio commentary on the any of the games in this series since the state owned NCN could only afford to pay for the Television rights.
Guyanese Insurance Agent and Cricket Umpire, Matthew Kissoon is set to make his international debut on Radio in tomorrow’s game. International Commentators Andrew Mason from Barbados, Inderjeet Persaud and Sean Devers are also a part of the Sports Radio team doing the ball-by-ball play.
