Heineken’s Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League (UCL) Finals Viewing Party packed 704 Bar and Lounge, Albert and Lamaha Streets to capacity last Saturday as football enthusiasts
and patrons turned up in their numbers.
Amidst mid-afternoon glitz, glamour and aura of three levels of party, more than three thousand turned up at the popular spot to witness Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League title for a historic 11th time on penalty kicks against Athletico Madrid.
The numbers doubled last year’s Finals Viewing Party in all facets. “This promotion was really good. We doubled the amount of consumption, and the participation, from last year,” Heineken Brand Manager, Robert Hiscock told Kaieteur Sport.
Distributors, Ansa McAl Limited launched the 2016 Heineken Promotion at the Savannah Suite of the Pegasus Hotel in February. Thereafter, hundreds of patrons across Guyana participated for several weeks in a foosball competition at selected bars.
Foosball is a table assimilation of football and was part of Heineken’s UEFA Series Promotion at the bars; the promotion attracted many curious fans and participants at the various locations with even women winning the diverse prizes that were up for grabs.
The prizes ranged from miniature foosball tables, Heineken-branded wrist watches, UEFA Gym bags to other
paraphernalia. Hiscock believes that football enthusiasts brought a fitting end to the promotion at the 704 Entertainment Complex.
“People had a really good time. This is an annual thing now and the people were anticipating it a whole lot more than before. I think part of that has to do with the fact that football is becoming a bigger culture in Guyana,” the Heineken boss indicated.
Heineken is a long-standing sponsor of the Champions League. This year’s promotion ended in a massive Finals Viewing Party, which presented three international DJs on the three levels of 704 Entertainment Complex. The three flights were packed to capacity.
The Finals Viewing Party was the biggest to-date given the special significance of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations; the purchase of buckets of Heineken a selected bars gave patrons the chance to win tickets to the Final Viewing Party.
