Dear Editor,
Kindly allow me to use this forum to voice my concern about the lack of phone lines and consequently internet connection in certain parts of Region 3. I have relatives who live in the La Grange area just off the Demerara Harbor Bridge and am appalled that this area has been without land line phones for a number of years. This area is quite close to Georgetown and had phone lines several years ago, but due to some problem that GT&T experienced, the service became unavailable to residents.
I do not know why GT&T has never seen it fit to rectify this situation. It is possibly an oversight by them coupled with the fact that the residents have sat back and accepted this situation for several years without much complaints? They use their cell phones for all sorts of communication, which I may add is more expensive. I see this as totally unacceptable from a company that boast of their faster internet speed and progress.
I am not certain how many households are affected but I feel that persons as far as Canal Polder have no land line. I trust that the company would see this letter and hasten to right this wrong. This is 2016.
