Husbands, Eastman and Savory impressive
Guyanese cyclists travelled to the United States and participated in last weekend’s Tour of Somerville where they graced the podium following impressive performances in the races. The Tour of Somerville Cycling
Series is an exciting two-day event of competitive cycling for professionals and amateurs over Memorial Day weekend in New Jersey.
Scott Savory (Crca/lupus Racing Team) powered to victory in the Men’s Category 1 event in 1:51:38, beating countryman, the multi-talented Hamza Eastman (Team Cocos) into second place, while Carlos Andres Brenes Mata was third. Geron Williams, another Guyanese, finished seventh in that event.
Stepano Husbands of Guyana and Team Cocos finished third in the Category 2-3 event. He was beaten by winner Euri Madera and second placed Lynn Murray.
Husbands was also second in another Category 3 event, while James Joseph followed in third. Geron Williams finished in sixth place in a Category 1-2 event, while Eastman placed 10th in the same race.
