A 43-year-old pedal cyclist was killed and a 19-year-old biker injured in an accident at L’Heurese Public Road, Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara.
Police identified the dead man as Godfrey Forte, of Lot 21 Inner Bagotville, West Bank Demerara. The injured cyclist was identified as Nial Persaud, of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Coast Demerara.
According to reports, Forte was cycling west along the L’ Heurese Public Road, when he suddenly swerved on the roadway. Persaud, who was riding some distance behind, slammed into Forte, and both men were hurled onto the road.
Forte was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital, while Persaud was admitted to the same hospital with injuries to his head, chest and back.
