Dear Editor;
Today marked the 50th Independence Anniversary for Guyana from the British but it seems like the poor people didn’t achieve Independence as yet. Only the Politician, the Rich, the Foreign Companies, the Business People and the Big Ones who use their money to influence justice have independence.
I will prove myself to the people of Guyana that this country has no future for poor people. Any future for the poor people is election time when politicians come around promising poor people to punish them more in a different language. Here are examples why I said so and they happen within a month’s span after my nephew death.
(1) A police man was hit down and died later, before the funeral the driver was placed before the court and remanded.
(2) A car collided to a mini bus and four persons died; before a week the driver of the mini bus was placed before the court and remanded.
(3) A police man hit down a child and was placed before the court a before the week done.
(4) Mini bus driver charged for causing death of a farmer and on $IM bail.
All the persons charged are poor people.
My nephew Rudolph Bess and a female friend were hit off a motor cycle by a businessman’s son who was driving a Surf going the opposite direction and killed them and then ran into a car and injured two persons who was hospitalized.
The Surf toppled over and skidded about fifty feet from the impact on the motor cycle and car lane. The injured persons along with the Surf driver were taken to the GPHC. At the hospital the mother of the Surf driver got the nurse and the doctor to clean up the driver’s mouth and they admitted him. The police then went and took a breathalyzer test which they for some reason rejected then registered another finding.
All this happened in the presence of the injured person of the car who was lying on the next bed by the driver. When the driver told his mother that the injured man is next to him she left the hospital. The police weren’t interested in the deceased and the injured but the driver. The driver was discharged, went to the station and was sent on bail. He was never placed in custody.
The deceased’s family had to get the witnesses and take them to the station and demand for the police to take statements. They took two statements and said that is enough and sent away the rest witnesses. Police work get easy now.
The deceased’s family tried to find out of the matter from the police with a lot of push around Because they are poor no one cares of their lost. They went to the officer in charge of Traffic Brickdam who told them that the file is at traffic head quarters. At traffic headquarters the file is not there. It seems like the file is resting comfortable under a carpet or on a turtle back heading for DPP for a review.
Poor people are charged and remanded while rich people spending their money to walk free. What a beautiful Guyana with corrupted persons.
