Dear Editor,
With reference to the above mentioned subject, I wish to relate to you my experiences with a traffic rank, (name supplied) at Mahaica Police Station.
On July 26, 2015 the rank stopped me at the De Hoop Public Road, Mahaica and accused me of drinking alcohol and instructed me to drive to the Mahaica Police Station. I complied, and went in his office. He implied that he will conduct the breathalyzser test on me. At that time I admitted to him that I did consume 2 bottles of Guinness and I pleaded with him for a chance. I had to attend to an urgent and personal errand with a family member. He then demanded $4,000 from me which I did offer after which I was released.
On 3 August 14, 2015, there was a road block at the Mahaica Public Road, among the police officer was this very rank. He stopped me and inquired if I had consumed any alcohol and he did arrest and place me in the lock up.
On August 15, 2015 at 1:30 PM, I was placed on $10,000 bail and was released. At this time still no breathalyser test was done. After my release I went to Region 2 to conduct some business. I returned on August I9th and went to the Police Station to enquire the status on my matter and met with this constable again. I enquired from him about my matter. He indicated to me that I will be charged and placed before the court on 2 charges and will have to attend court on August 20th, 20 I 5
I visited the Police station on August 20th. He then demanded the bail receipt from me and $10,000 cash which I give him after which he related to me that the matter is finished. I wish to bring this matter to your attention and wish to have police officers like these removed from office. This new government vouched that they will STAMP OUT CORRUPTION! And with these simple matters things will escalate so I am hoping that my matter will be addressed urgently.
