Leonora Primary School captured the male and female softball titles when the Ministry of Education staged a six-over competition in Region three recently. Leonora defeated Windsor Forest by 58 runs in the male final.
Batting first, Leonora managed 95-2; Aryan Persaud hit an unbeaten 39 (2×4 3×6) and
Thaddius Lovell 38 (5×6). Windsor Forest were limited to 37-6 in reply; Vicky Singh snared 2-1 and Shahid Viera 2-11.
Leonora overcame Cornelia Ida (CI) by 9 wickets with two overs to spare in the female final. Cornelia Ida took first strike and reached 30-6. Natascia Suhkra claimed 2-9 and Lavina Gunput 2-11. Leonora raced to 31-1 in four overs in response, Alliyah Webb scored 14 not out.
Aryan Persaud took the best batsman prize; Thaddius Lovell got the best bowler award and Roshan Amar (CI) was the Most Valuable Player of the male competition.
Alliyah Webb was the best batter in the female category, Lavina Gunput the best bowler and Natascia Sukhra the MVP. By virtue of winning both titles Leonora will represent region three in the Inter District playoffs.
