Andrew Johnson led Plaisance Secondary School to a 38-23 rout of Tutorial High School during the fifth week of the National Schools’ Basketball Festival (NSBF) Georgetown, and East Coast Preliminaries at the Cliff Anderson
Sports Hall.
Johnson poured in 20 points for Plaisance in an Under-16 game while Nigel Bowen had 13points, 11 rebounds and eight steals. For Tutorial High, Zion Gray had 13 points and three assists.
In other U-16 games played, St. Joseph High defeated Charlestown Secondary School 29-8 with Shaquavon Gill scoring 11 points and grabbing five rebounds and Tahir Meusa 10 points and five rebounds, Keoma Henry scored Charlestown’s eight points.
Bladen Hall Secondary edged Queens College 23-22 with Joshua Gordon scoring 14 points and Quacey Shortt six points, five rebounds and five blocks. For Queens College, Lugard Mohan had nine points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, in the U-14 category, Saint Stanislaus College turned the tables on Plaisance with a 33-8 mauling, Nathan Hackett poured in 13 points while grabbing 19 rebounds and Omario Ganesh 10 points and six rebounds. Kelteen Sampson had four points for Plaisance.
St Roses High defeated Tutorial High 9-7 with Jaheem Burton scoring four points and getting 11 rebounds and Jaden Craig four points. Jaden Moses finished with three points and five steals for Tutorial.
Marian Academy outlasted Bishops High 22-15. Corey Graham had seven points and 13 rebounds and Jether Harris 6 points and nine rebounds for Marian Academy. Timothy Richmond had eight points and six rebounds for Bishops’ High.
In the Under-19 Category, St. Joseph High got past Queens College 37-32 with Lemuel Grant scoring 16 points and Abevia Perry eight points and six rebounds. Damani Thomas finished with nine points and 14 rebounds Darnell Green six points and 16 rebounds for Queen’s College.
Plaisance Secondary thrashed Tutorial High 88-35 with Terrence Daniels tipping in 29 points while Nigel Bowen added 12 points. For Tutorial, Denzel Logan scored 10 points.
Tutorial High had redemption with a 33-30 win against Queen’s College. Zion Gray had 11 points and Dequan Manning nine points for Tutorial. For Queens, Damani Thomas finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Mohan had 11 points for Queen’s College.
