May 27, 2016 Letters
Dear Editor,
This is a respond to Sahadeo Bates letter which was published on the 22-05-2016 in the Sunday edition of Kaieteur News. Sahadeo Bates should get his facts correct before writing garbage accusing people. Mr. Editor he stated and I quote “ ex-police officer operating a 32 mini bus with loud music and tint picking up passengers last Friday and at one stop I noticed him drinking a Guinness whiles driving.” How can he possibly see two things at different location at the same time?
It seems he is stalking the driver and that my friend is a very serious offence. For Sahadeo Bates information, that very 32 mini bus did not work on that particular Friday. The bus is not fitted with music system and tinted glass and we challenge you Sahadeo Bates to come down to Leonora Traffic department to hold a confrontation with the driver of the said bus.
As for the drinking and driving, he is totally slandering the ex-officer’s character and if indeed he saw the driver drinking a Guinness whilst working he should have called the Leonora Police Station’s traffic department and report same. Secondly, Mr. Editor he claims that the ex- police’s colleague’s turned a blind eye on him. I think the Traffic Chief should give Bates a job in the traffic department of the Guyana Police Force, because he seems to be on the road 24/7; that is how he comes to know that traffic ranks are turning a blind eye to violations. Bates’s accusations are nothing more but baseless fabrications. Traffic ranks never turn a blind eye on the driver or the mini bus regardless who’s driving.
Stop belittling the traffic ranks of the Guyana Police Force. At this point and time legal action will be instituted against him for wrongfully and maliciously accusing the ex-police officer. The the 32 mini bus was summoned to the Leonora Police Station on the 23-05-2016 for an examination of all the things Bates stated in his letter and it was found to be in according with the Road Traffic Rules and Regulations. No Tinted Glass and No music system.
