The Washington DC Jammers ‘balled’ to their second straight win in Guyana Sunday night
when they beat National Club Champions, Colts 93-78 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall as a Goodwill Tour heated up with the second of four games.
Point guard, Glen Stokes scored 21 points while forward, Winston Robinson added 18 points to lead DC Jammers on the rout. Stephan Farley had 11 points.
For the local team, Shelroy Thomas put up 14 points while Sheldon Thomas added 11 points for the only players in double figures. National Club Championships Most Valuable Player, Stanton Rose and Kurt English had nine points apiece.
Tied 25-25 early in the second quarter, Stokes nailed back-to-back three-point jumpers to put DC Jammers up 31-25. The foreigners extended that lead to 58-46 with 2:39 left in the game. Despite a lack of defence from Jammers, Colts could not finish easy attempts.
Robinson completed a layup for 60-47 lead before a thunderous two-handed alley-hoop dunk off assist sent the Sports Hall into frenzy. Nevertheless, the penultimate quarter ended with six fast break points for Colts.
Robinson continued to punish Colts with his offense nailing a jumper from way outside the three point line for 69-57 lead. Keavon Creppy then hit a three-point jumper and finished a put-back to launch Jammers’ run to the blowout win.
The team will play Pacesetters tonight in their third game. Pacesetters placed third in the National Club Championships. Thus far, D.C Jammers have beaten Ravens and Colts. Linden’s Retrieve Raiders refused to play as per schedule.
