The Washington DC Jammers basketball team will continue their tradition of touring Guyana from tonight when they take on Ravens in their first game of a goodwill series at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Unlike previous years, it was noted that the DC Jammers will oppose Guyana’s top four clubs in four scheduled games. In the past, the United States-based composition played against Guyana’s national team in a Goodwill Series.
The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) welcomed DC Jammer to Guyana yesterday at Cara Lodge. Ravens finished fourth in the National Club Championships: Road to Mecca III. The schedule of the DC Jammers tour is below:
Saturday, May 21 – DC Jammers vs. Ravens (Fourth Place: National Club Championships). The first game will bring together Bishops’ High School against Government Technical Institute (GTI).
Sunday, May 22 – DC Jammers vs. Raiders (Runner-Up: National Club Championships). Tutorial High Takes on Plaisance Secondary in the first game.
Tuesday, May 24 – DC Jammers vs. Pacesetters (Third Place: National Club Championships)
Friday, May 27 – DC Jammers vs. Colts (National Club Champions). President’s College battle Marian Academy in the undercard.
The school games are all Under-19 games, but will feature some of the best U-16 prospects as Guyana continues to prepare to host the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) U-16 Championships in July.
The games start at 6:30 pm each night with admission being $1000 for Adults and children 12 and under free; the GABF said that Entertainment will also be a feature of each night.
According to President of the GABF, Nigel Hinds, each local club will be allowed a maximum of three guest players. DC Jammers Manager, Clarence Wallerson told Kaieteur Sport that his team is anxiously awaiting tonight’s competition.
