Senwasane 82, Latiff 9 for 12 help Port Mourant beat Albion by innings and 88 runs
The Port Mourant Cricket Club (PMCC) continued its winning streak in the New York Business Group sponsored Under-19 one-day 2 innings competition when they defeated Albion Cricket Club by 88 runs and an innings in their match played at the Port Mourant Community Center.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Albion Cricket Club were all out for 102 in 34 overs. R. Kasinauth led the scoring with 29, while G. Outar made 25 followed by A. Ault on 20. All the other batsmen failed to accumulate double figures as the Port Mourant bowlers proved detrimental to the Albion batting order.
Bowling for Port Mourant Cricket Club, Kevin Latif took 4 wickets for 4 runs in his 8 overs. Totaram Rajaram took 2 for 14 in his 4 overs, while Jamar Lancaster, Imran Khan, Antonio Kempadoo, and Ezekiel Kempadoo took one wicket each
Port Mourant’s reply to the total set by Albion showed aggression and determination and allowed them to 212 in 48 overs. Batting for Port Mourant, the aggressive Opener Veramootoo Senwasane made a smashing 82, while Imran Khan crafted 41. Emmanuel Seecharran made 25 while Totaram Rajaram and Ezekiel Kempadoo ended on 13 each.
The Albion Batsmen failed to recover from the first innings defeat, and further crumbled in the second innings, as the whole team was bowled out for 22 runs, giving the Port Mourant Cricket Club a lead of 88 runs and one innings to spare.
Port Mourant’s left arm spinner Kevin Latiff again proved dangerous and bagged 5 wickets for 8 runs, while Sudesh Ghamandi also took 5 for 7 runs.
The competition is continuing.
