The Mayor’s Cup football tournament will continue today at the Victoria ground on the East Coast of Demerara following opening day action at the same venue yesterday.
BV Triumph will face Eagles in the opening encounter at 6:30pm, while Golden Grove tangle with Herstelling at 8:30pm in the nightcap.
More play is set for tomorrow, this time at the Den Amstel ground on the Westside with another double header. Pouderoyen challenge Soesdyke in the opening game at 2:00pm, while Den Amstel take on Kuru Kururu at 4:00pm.
The teams are battling for the Mayor’s Cup and a first prize of $700,000, second $300,000, third $200,000 and fourth $100,000.
Sponsors supporting this year’s event are Aruwai Resorts, Ansa McAl, John Fernandes and Minister of State Joseph Harmon as the key supporters. Others to have thrown their support include the Government of Guyana, Macorp, Busta, Cummings Electrical, Bakewell, IPA, China Trading, E Networks, Namilco and BK International.
