Encouraging shooters to be competitive with the understanding that everyone cannot win, Chief of Defence Staff of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Col. Sir Trevor Thomas yesterday opened the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Council (WIFBSC) 2016 Championships at the Crabbs Rifle Range, Antigua.
Col. Thomas who also fired the first shot from the 600 yards range and declared the competition open, extended salutations to each nation represented from the Caribbean and North America which is being represented by Canada.

WIFBSC President Norris Gomez of Trinidad and Tobago also extend a warm welcome to the shooters, stating that he is looking forward to a high level of competition for the remainder of the week at the individual and team levels.
Competition got underway with the Individual Shoot with two sighting shots and 10 rounds to count at the 300 yards range. Thereafter, the marksmen and women took on each other at 500 yards (2×15) and 600 yards (2×7).
Today and tomorrow, rivalry will be from the same ranges, today will be 2×15, 2×7 and 2×10 at 300, 500 and 600, while tomorrow’s final day will be 2×7 @ 300, 2×10 @ 500 and 2×15 at 600 yards.
Antigua and Barbuda are hosting as a result of Trinidad and Tobago’s inability.
