Police ranks will now be able to flash a proper identification card whenever they have to, thanks to Canada-based businessman Dr. Roberto Jacgobin.
Yesterday Dr. Jacgobin, who has a working relationship with the police Cops and Faith Community Network, presented the force with a professional document laminator.
In brief remarks during the presentation which was made in the office of the Assistant Commissioner “Administration” at Police Headquarters, Dr. Jacgobin said that it was a pleasure for him to be of some help to the Guyana Police Force, and expressed his readiness to be of further assistance with other initiatives.
Assistant Commissioner “Administration” David Ramnarine, who is performing the duties of Commissioner of Police in the absence of Seelall Persaud, received the laminating machine on the force’s behalf. He expressed sincere appreciation for the piece of equipment that will assist in the production of identification cards for members of the Force.
A few years ago the force was the recipient of another piece of equipment that facilitated the production of identification cards. However that equipment has been malfunctioning for a while now.
Members of the public have always had issues with the lack of proper police identification, and this has led to several confrontations, both physical and verbal.
Production of police ID cards is expected to commence soon.
