Dear Editor,
A question I have for the new City Council of Georgetown is why two of its principal officers, those being the Town Clerk Royston King and the City Treasurer Ron Mc Almon are not proceeding on their accumulated vacation leave? For years now these officers using from one excuse to another, have been deferring their leave whist all other officers have had to proceed on theirs of have it forfeited. Why is this so?
The only time officers are reluctant to proceed on their leave is when they are sitting on something they are afraid might blow in their absence. The budget is passed, the amnesty is over, the old Council is gone, the new one has been sworn in and debriefed, the committees have been created, so why not have these two officers proceed on their ‘hard earned’ vacation leave? Is the Minister of Communities aware that these two officers are not going on their leave and risk being burnt out? Are they indispensible? Are their deputies not competent to temporarily hold their offices? So much is so wrong at City Hall. All of which is being condoned.
