Dear Editor,
The loquacious taxi driver taking his passenger through the eastern side of Carmichael Street observed, however ineloquently, the contrast between the total darkness surrounding the Promenade Gardens and the brilliant lighting directly opposite. He was not necessarily expecting a rejoinder, as he mused about the Town Council not illuminating that well manicured square of flowered vegetation with lights and flags in keeping with the celebratory signage that had enwrapped other parts of the city of Georgetown. He paused, waiting for a rejoinder that never came – unwittingly leaving his passenger in silent reflection.
