The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) has shortlisted a 22-member team to represent the nation at the 14th IPF / NAPF North American Regional Powerlifting Championships scheduled for St. Croix, US

The team made up of experienced and not so experienced lifters will be aiming to continue a rich tradition that Guyana has set ever since getting back into competitive Powerlifting at the Caribbean level and further afield.
According to a release from the federation which is now headed by Ed Caesar, team Guyana will be aiming to continue the rich tradition set by the likes of seasoned campaigner Winston ‘Little Master’ Stoby who has also been shortlisted.
Several athletes from across the length and breadth of Guyana were selected based on fulfilling the criteria stipulated by the GAPF’s Selection Committee which was based on their performances at the federation’s Senior National Championships in November 2015, the 2015 Pan-American Powerlifting Championships held in Brazil, and the 2015 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships held in Canada.
The release further stated that overall the team is made up of several seasoned athletes who have all been successful on the International and Regional stages. It also boasts several young talents eager to make their debut at this level.
The GAPF is appealing to Corporate Guyana and citizens to make this trip a reality for all the athletes. Interested persons can contact members of the GAPLF Executive Committee to indicate their interest in making this moment in the history of Guyana’s Powerlifting, a reality.
