The Guyana Police Force is responding to an article published in the Kaieteur News today Thursday May 12, 2016, under the caption “Police misbehaviour at Sisters Village in Berbice.” The Police Force wishes to state that the allegations raised in the article were reported to the Divisional Commander Assistant Commissioner Ian Amsterdam on Friday last. Consequently an investigation has been launched with a view to taking disciplinary action against any rank found to be culpable. No charge will be made against the President of the Brothers Masjid as alluded to in the article. The report of the break and enter and larceny at the Masjid is still under investigation and legal advice will be sought in the matter.
