– New boss chosen for HR
The Board of Directors of the National Communications Network (NCN) has announced the appointment of
two new members of the network’s management team who will function as Programme Manager and Human Resources Manager.
According to NCN, veteran broadcaster and theatre personality, Ronald Robinson, assumed the post of Programme Manager, while Tishikta De Costa is the new Human Resources (HR) Manager, both with effect from May 3, 2016.
“Based on the current revitalization process underway at NCN, Robinson emerged the most suitable candidate following a shortlist and interview process conducted by members of the board and a professional HR consultant,” NCN said.
The state-owned entity, which runs a number of television and radio stations across the country, said that Robinson brings to the network more than 40 years of experience in the media, cumulatively, and a wealth of knowledge pertaining to Guyana’s broadcast landscape, training and production management.
“Prior to her appointment as the new HR Manager of NCN, Ms De Costa, who also went through a similar interview process, had worked in the Human Resources Division of the Audit Office, Guyana Revenue Authority and Unicomer. She brings to the network approximately eight years’ experience in recruitment, staff welfare, people management and HR strategic planning and budgeting among other critical areas.”
NCN has been facing criticisms, running at a loss for years, with millions owed to it by advertisers and even
political parties. The David Granger administration had announced plans to reform the government news agencies, following the coalition’s victory at last May’s general elections.
