Dear Editor,
Thank you for permitting me space in your media to vent an issue which I do believe needs attention. In the interest of privacy, I would also appreciate if you could keep my name confidential, as my letter to you concerns the latest debacle which occurred at Mae’s Primary School
As a parent, I would like the authorities in charge of the Primary Division of Mac’s School to be cognizant of the fact, that the reason we send our children to Mae’s is not because of the fees, in fact, theirs’ is much more costly than the other leading private schools. It is also not because of the facilities, because the washrooms, furniture, etc is in a more deplorable state than other private and possibly public schools.
I would like to state emphatically, we send our children to Mae’s because of the TEACHERS, especially the grade 6 teachers. As a parent with a child, presently in the primary division and another who recently graduated and left the system, I watch with utter interest as to the decision that will he made about the present grade 6 teachers who in the past, have definitely assisted in helping MAE’S SCHOOL to achieve great success and earn them recognition which they currently enjoy.
Far too long I have heard about the indiscriminate manner the authorities in charge have handled the teachers. Never a positive word, no increases, no proper remuneration or added incentives to motivate these teachers who make all the sacrifices, working tirelessly to produce excellent results. Instead, as a repayment, Management of Mae’s school wants to unjustifiably cut the salaries of these staff. Exactly where do people get off with such high- handed dictatorship mannerism!
