Clearly going for youth as Guyana looks towards exposing its future stars, Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz has released a 25-man provisional squad ahead of Sunday’s 50th Jubilee Friendly
International match against Canada’s Olympic Under-23 side.
Six of the players are overseas based players including first timer, Charles Ishankie (defender) who was born in Guyana and left for England at age 13. Making a return is Barbados based Mustafa Haqq who last donned national colours when the GFF All Stars opposed Cray Wanderers FC in August 2010 at the Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, Champion Hill Stadium, London, England.
Fans will have a chance to see the lethal Pernel Schultz who is based in the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago playing for Lucozade Champions Caledonia AIA, while the Whyte brothers Anthony and Daniel as well as Marcel Barrington will be back.
According to a press release from the Guyana Football Federation, fans will be treated to a supporting game on Sunday with more talent being on show in the form of DIGICEL School champions Christiansburg/Wismar Secondary matching skills with their MILO equals, Chase Academy from 16:00hrs.
The Golden Jaguars will be encamped from today while training will also commence this morning at the GDF ground Camp Ayangana, this afternoon’s session is slated for the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Meanwhile, gates will be opened from 14:00hrs on Sunday with tickets being sold at $1000 (general), VIP will cost $5000, while the private booths are going at $80,000. The Canadian National side is expected to arrive in the Land of Many Waters on Friday.
