Jada Mohan scored eight of her team’s 16 points to propel Marian Academy to
victory over Saint Stanislaus College Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall when the Georgetown and the East Coast Regionals continued in the National Schools Basketball Festival.
Point guard, Mohan also had to two steals while forward, Georginna Vyphuis scored four points and grabbed five rebounds to give Marian a 16-2 victory. Natesha Seymour had two points with two rebounds for Saints.
In the other female game, Jada Amerally and Jamaica Blair scored six points apiece for St Roses High to help the school to a 16-4 win against President’s College. Destinie Mc Donald and Annalisa Barclay scored two points each for President’s College.
Meanwhile, in the male U-16 category, Plaisance Secondary defeated President’s College 33-30 in overtime. Andrew Johnson had 29 points and three steals with Nigel Bowen scoring the other points for Plaisance. Akeem Crandon had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds while Kareem Boyle had 11 points for President’s College.
In the other U-16 game, Bishops’ High School beat Saints 36-11 with Webster Macrae putting up nine points and six rebounds and Stefan Hamilton scoring seven points. Brandon Friday had six points for Saints.
Then in the U-19 category Jonathan Mangra poured in 11 points and Judah Stephney eight points to help Marian Academy beat Bishops’ High School 32-27. Timothy Thompson had seven points and eight rebounds and Makhail Broomes seven points for Bishops’ High.
Forward, Travis Belgraves scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Kadeem Bowen scored 11 points and Anfernee Headecker 10 points to help Saints defeat Queens College 39-22. Omari Joseph had 11 points and Damani Thomas seven points for Queens.
Government Technical Institute also won big when they demolished President’s College 49-33 with Nathan Saul scoring 17 points and Kerwin Griffith and Keon Marks 10 points apiece with four and six rebounds respectively.
Kadeem Peterkin finished with eight points and Anton Fileen six points for President’s College.
