As part of the Golden Jubilee Independence celebrations the Guyana Draughts Association would be holding a
National Draughts Competition on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May at the National Gymnasium Mandela Avenue.
On Saturday the open competition would be contested on the 64 square boards, while on Sunday the players would compete on the International 100 square boards. A six round Swiss System would be applied on both days.
Registration commences at 9.30am while the draw would take place at 10.00am. Play would follow immediately after the draw. Registration fee is three hundred dollars ($300) per person. Players are reminded to be on time for the draw since late registration would cause players to lose points once the first round is completed.
Mr. Ramesh Sunich, Proprietor of Trophy Stall of Bourda Market has once again contributed to the development of this board game in Guyana. He has come on board with six trophies for the two days of this Golden Jubilee Draughts competition.
All Draughts players throughout the country are invited.
