The New Amsterdam branch of Scotia Bank and the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, MS have joined hands to make Mother’s Day 2016 a special one for 100 less fortunate in the Lower Corentyne Area. The two
organisations, which have a long and highly successful relationship over the years, would be providing hampers for mothers on their special day.
The Bank along with its staff members made a financial contribution to the Club to assist in preparing the hampers. Branch Manager Vibert Jones stated that the Bank was delighted to partner with the RHTYSC, MS as it was a household name across Guyana due to its outstanding record of service over the years. It was also an honour, Jones stated, to pay tribute to Mothers on their special day and noted that the Bank of Nova Scotia is a responsible corporate entity who strongly believes in making positive contributions to society.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that since its formation in 1990 the RHTYSC, MS has mandated its different cricket teams to make a positive difference in the lives of others to honour their parents. The teams since 1991 organised programmes to honour mothers and fathers on their special days every year and he expressed gratitude to the Bank of Nova Scotia for their support for the 2016 programme. Special mention was made of Staff members who also made personal contributions to the hampers project. The bank, Foster stated has been very supportive of the RHTYSC, MS and sponsors at least six programmes annually.
The RHTYSC, MS for Mother’s Day 2016 would also be hosting its annual Berbice Mother of the Year Programme, a joint venture with DTV-8. Three outstanding and role model mothers would be honoured by the cricket teams. The teams organising the programmes are the Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes Under 15, Bakewell Under 17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under 19 and Division, Metro Female and Gizmos and Gadgets Under 21 and First Division.
