They met in the first match of the league back in early March, Grove Hi Tech prevailed in that encounter 4-1 over Herstelling Raiders and now on the final day of the league tomorrow, Herstelling like Grove, can
attain championship glory.
Grove, the defending champions have suffered one loss the same as Herstelling who are enjoying a dream season after finishing in the penultimate position of eight teams when the league was last held in 2014. It {League} was not held last year owing to a directive by the former GFF TD.
Tomorrow however, whichever way it goes will be an entertaining day for fans and supporters of both teams. Grove will play the first match of the afternoon from 13:30hrs against an improved Mocha Champs.
The home team will have to pull out all the stops in order to keep Mocha at bay as they aim to successfully retain their title and bragging rights as the best team on the East Bank.
Herstelling will bring the curtain down on the STAG/EBFA Senior League when they face off with Diamond United lagging at the bottom of the table without a point but will not be any pushover despite.
This scenario makes it dangerous for Herstelling as Diamond will not want to finish the league pointless.
Grove are on 12 points, two more than Herstelling, both playing 5 matches. A win for them would see them retain the championship, even a draw since they have a superior goal difference of +9 to Herstelling’s 0.
Therefore, losing would not be an option for the Grove boys. A win for Herstelling over Diamond can see them being crowned champions only if Grove falls to Mocha.
All the teams will be aiming for polished performances in their quest to end the league on a high. The League winners will pocket $300,000; 2nd place $150,000; 3rd place $100,000 and 4th place $50,000. There will also be individual awards for the Highest Goal Scorer, Best Goalkeeper and Most Valuable Player while the Fair Play Trophy is at stake for the Most Disciplined Team.
Kick off time tomorrow is 13:30hrs.
