Pomeroon murder suspects released on bail

The three suspects in the murder of 58-year-old Mohamed Shameer, whose mutilated body was discovered in a clump of bushes at Moruca, on Thursday, were released on $2M bail.
The trio, Rondell Kellawan, Lennox Baharally and his father Campton Baharally are scheduled to make an appearance in a Georgetown court soon. Lennox is Shameer’s nephew.
It was reported on Monday last, at Jacklow, in the Upper Pomeroon River that Lennox Baharally who was powering a 75-horse power engine, ran over and allegedly killed his uncle Shameer who was traveling in a wooden balahoo.
Both men were heading to Jacklow, Upper Pomeroon.
It is however, not clear whether Shameer was killed after he was hit or if he was taken to the Moruca location, then killed. His mutilated remains were recovered in a black plastic bag, in a clump of bushes at Moruca after the key witness, Kellawan told detectives at the Anna Regina police station what had really transpired after Shameer was involved in a boat accident.
Results from a Post Mortem examination performed on Shameer’s remains on Friday concluded that he died from multiple injuries. Shameer’s remains were interred later that day.
The 58-year-old was afflicted by Polio and was cared for by his mother, Bibi Noorjhan. His siblings said that the two families, the Shameers and the Baharallys always had grievances.
