Earlier this week, Ryan Bobb Semple, who is accused of sodomizing and murdering a nine-year-old boy, has denied providing police with a caution statement but admitted that he signed the said statement after it was shown to him in court.
This was revealed to the court after Semple was questioned by a City Magistrate in relation to a caution statement and oral statement he allegedly gave police.
Bob Semple is currently on remand for the murder of South Ruimveldt resident, Shaquan Gittens, whose partially decomposed and bloated body was found in a trench in the Houston Backlands on April 4, last.
When asked by the Magistrate if he had told police that he sodomized the boy and dumped his body in a trench, the accused replied in the negative but later told the court that he took the little boy and buggered him.
The accused also denied speaking with police throughout investigations and said that he did not carry them to the spot where the boy’s body was found.
Semple went missing on April 1, 2015 after he left home to fly kites in his neighbourhood with some friends.
According to reports, Semple saw the little boy walking at night on Caneview Avenue, South Ruimveldt. He reportedly admitted to police that he ‘tripped’ the boy, causing him to fall to the ground before dragging him under a tree. It was under the tree, that Semple reportedly told police he tied Gittens hands and sodomized him.
It was reported that the accused also severed Gittens’ private parts.
The Magistrate will make a ruling on the admissibility of the statements on Tuesday.
