Excited by the response of the schools so far in this tournament, President of the DVA, Trevor Williams is already talking about running off another school tournament later in the year as, Youth and School Volleyball has been identified by the Association and Federation as an area of focus moving forward.
Williams also pointed out that outstanding players from this tournament will get an opportunity to further develop themselves in the sport because immediately after the completion of the finals, a male and female school team will start preparations to represent Demerara at the inter county championship scheduled for next Saturday, May 7, at the same venue.
Also in the pipeline for youth volleyball, the Guyana Volleyball Federation will be selecting male and female teams to represent the country at the upcoming U19 and U23 South American Championships which are scheduled to serve off in Colombia in June of this year and the cream of the crop is expected to come from the schools participating in the ongoing championships.
