The Stag Beer sponsored West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) senior league is expected to kick off tomorrow with a double header following what is anticipated to be a colourful march past of the competing teams.
WDFA President Orin Ferrier informed that the top four teams would be sharing in the prize monies whilst trophies and medals would also be up for grabs in the one round league that would feature 11 clubs including new comers, Vegae Boys of Vergenoegen.
The other competing teams are Pouderoyen, Wales United, Den Amstel, Beavers, Young Achievers, Stewartville, Golden Warriors, Eagles, Jetty Gunners and Uitvlugt.
Earlier this week, Ansa McAl Trading, manufacturers and distributors of Stag Beer through Brand Coordinator Lindon Henry, handed over the sponsorship cheque to the WDFA President Orin Ferrier and Vice President Ms Christine Smith noting that the company was pleased to continue its partnership of development with the sport in the association.
Ferrier, on behalf of his executive and clubs expressed gratitude to Henry and Ansa McAl for their unwavering support, pointing out that they have also been partnering by sponsoring the annual Derrick Josiah Memorial as well as the annual Super 16 KO competition which also involves teams from the East Bank and East Demerara Football Associations.
GFF President Wayne Forde is expected to be on hand for tomorrow’s March Past and official opening at the Den Amstel Community ground where all matches would be played.
