The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S on Sunday last specially honoured West Indies T20 female players Shemaine Campbell and Tremayne Smartt for being members of the victorious World Cup Squad.
Club Patron President David Granger, along with immediate Past Patron Beverly Harper joined members of the Club to honour the duo of making the ancient county of Berbice proud.
Campbell received an airline ticket to the United States of America compliments of Caribbean Airlines and also received a Gold Medallion from the RHT Female team Official sponsor, Metro Office Supplies.
Smartt, a member of the Tucker Park Cricket Club received along with Campbell both received trophies while Smartt was also presented with a ticket to the USA compliments of a Berbice Businessman, who wishes to remain unknown.
Ansa Mcal Chief Executive Officer, Ms Beverly Harper presented special hampers to the two Champions and also disclosed that the duo would be unveiled shortly as the official faces of the company’s “Act as a Girl” promotion on billboards and TV advertisements.
Harper encouraged the attentive cricketers to remain focused and to always strive for excellence.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster praised Campbell and Smartt for being perfect sport ambassadors and stated that the club was proud to honour them. Female cricket, the veteran cricket administrator noted needs special attention from all administrators across Guyana since too few are involved in the game at the club level.
Foster praised Caribbean Airlines and the other donor for of the USA tickets which is a contribution in recognising the female cricketers. The Secretary/CEO whose work at the Club was praised by Club Patron, President David Granger urged the two players to maintain discipline at all times and to remain humble despite how successful they become in life.
President David Granger congratulated Campbell and Smartt on their personal achievements of being World Champions and stated that Guyana was proud of them. The Head of State also complimented RHTYSC, M.S for honouring the duo as it is important to recognise our heroes. Both Campbell and Smartt in invited comments after the ceremony expressed gratitude to the Club for honouring them and stated that the presence of President Granger made the event more special for them.
Campbell presented a souvenir cricket bat with the signatures of the West Indies female T20 team while Ms Harper and Ms Avie Lindee received a West Indies player’s Tee Shirt. The club is expressing gratitude to Caribbean Airlines, Dion Inniss, Colin Bynoe, Ansa McAl, Ms Beverly Harper, Ms Avie Lindee, Manoj Singh and Metro Office Supplies for their role in honouring the Champions.
