…attacker suffers broken nose in return
A man who attacked a Guyana Power and Light employed with a piece of wood after he alleged that the worker had unlawfully disconnected his lights, was himself wounded by the worker and is now a patient in the New Amsterdam hospital.
Rohit Singh, 39 of Vryheid, West Canje Berbice, is suffering from a broken nose and a swollen face following an altercation between himself and Justin Bess, an employee of GPL and of Sheet Anchor, East Canje, Berbice.
According to information, Singh alleged that about two months ago Bess disconnected the electricity supply to his home after it was found that he was using electricity illegally. The man had since then vowed to harm Bess, whenever “he catches up with him.”
Around 01:30 hrs on Saturday morning there was an altercation between the two men where Bess was allegedly attacked by Singh who wounded him with a piece of wood. He received a cut to his right side jaw. Bess in return allegedly wounded Singh, breaking his nose and injuring his face in the process.
Both men were taken to the New Amsterdam hospital where Bess was subsequently treated and sent away, while Singh remained warded.
Bess has been released on station bail.
Investigations are continuing and charges are likely soon.
