Alpha “The Hammer” United and Pele recorded their fifth and third wins of the Stag Elite League – FINALE when round 9 play concluded on Sunday evening last at the GFC ground, Bourda.
Both sides have been struggling in this second and final stage of this inaugural competition but might very well have turned a new page with wins against Georgetown Football Club and Monedderlust, respectively.
Alpha, led by their most prolific scorer, Delon Lanferman who netted a hat-trick and elder statesman, Anthony ‘Awo’ Abrams with a brace, blanked the home team 5-0, their eight loss of the season.
Lanferman opened his account with the match a mere two minutes old but then gave way to Abrams who was on target 4 minutes later then on 30 minutes; Alpha going into the break with a comfortable 3-0 cushion.
Lanferman converted his second goal three minutes into the second half whilst completing his three in the 3rd minute of added on time, 90+3.
Pele notched just their third win in 9 matches via a 4-1 score line over West Berbice’ Monedderlust. Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson who missed a few matches due to red
card issues was on song as he led his team with a double in the 40th and 64th minute.
Colric Beckles opened Pele’s account in the 38th minute while Konata Manning tucked in one of his own in the 53rd minute. Monedderlust got their consolation goal compliments of an own goal from Pele in the 61st minute.
Round 10 matches will commence tomorrow at the same venue when Alpha United match skills with Monedderlust from 18:30hrs to be followed by Pele taking on Buxton United.
