Former Guyana’s Under-19 middle order batsman Khemraj Mahadeo walked away with close to $200,000 worth of prizes as the Cricketer of the Year (2015) for the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, MS at their 26th Awards Ceremony which was held on Sunday last at the St. Francis Training Centre, Rose Hall Town, Berbice.

West Indies Female T20 player Shemaine Campbell, who was named the Female Player of the Year, was also handsomely rewarded. Both Mahadeo and Campbell received their prizes from Club Patron, His Excellency President David Granger who delivered the feature address and charge to the awardees which numbered over 40.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster delivered a comprehensive report of the club’s activities and programmes for the period, January 2015 to March 2016 where he stated that Campbell’s involvement in the 2016 ICC T20 Female World Cup winning West Indies team was the club’s proudest moment for the period under review.
The long serving CEO revealed some major plans for the remainder of 2016 which include the construction of a Family Recreational Park, Region 6 Traffic Education Campaign, the 2nd edition of the Edward B. Beharry Say No to Drugs, Crime and Suicide programme and the hosting of a Career Day Fair for Youths.
Club President Keith Foster in his remarks highlighted the contribution of their numerous sponsors and noted that their success has been built on team work and desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Other speakers at the event included recently elected Mayor of Rose Hall Town Vijay Ramoo, Immediate Past Patron Ms Beverly Harper, Marketing Executive of DDL Larry Wills, Gizmos and Marketing Manager Earl Gomes and Metro Office Supplies CEO Ms Avie Lindee.
Three representatives of the Club’s official sponsors stated that their companies were delighted to be associated with Guyana’s top youth and sports organisation and pledged to work along with the RHTYSC, MS in the future.
Wills congratulated the RHT Pepsi Under-19 team for being outstanding ambassadors for the international soft drink brand while Gomes expressed pride in the performance of the Gizmos and Gadgets first division team during 2015 and early 2016.
Ms Lindee posited that the success of the club needs to be emulated across Guyana, while Mayor Ramoo pledged his total support for the Club and its work. Several donations to organisations including the Rose Hall Town Primary School were also handed out.
The Club also honoured Major James Fraser of the Guyana Defence Force with its Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Club also honoured Keith Hicks and Ravindranauth Kissoonlall (25 years) and Terry Pike (15 Years) for long and faithful service as Executive Members, while Elizabeth Brusch, Joyce Wiggins, Mark Papannah, Felisha Archer and Lucy Pike were honoured for outstanding work as members during 2015.
Each of the awardees received medals, trophies and food hampers. Among the prizes shared out were bicycles, gold medallion, designers watch and clothing, footwear, microwaves, electric fans, electric blenders, cosmetic hampers, electric irons and airline tickets.
