Dear Editor,
50 years of Independence and what do we have to show? An country of ¾ million people, 83, 000 square miles of land and an abundance of resources and still the average person is living below the poverty level.
Throughout the years different administrations due to greed and gross mismanagement, have made a mess of my “beautiful” country. Guyana is supposed to be the bread basket of the “Caribbean” and other countries with our various mineral wealth and our dollar should never be in such a deficit as $200GYD to 1USD and looking in the future it doesn’t show any signs of recovery.
Are we supposed to sit and allow our country to be looted and plundered by various sources? What should we leave our future generations, we are responsible in making a brighter future for them. So I’m appealing to all Guyanese to get up, throw away all our differences being racial, political or whatever and make this country a brighter and better place, please, so that our future generation would be glad to come and embrace our beautiful country.
