– Kings Jewellery World donates Gold Medallion
Former Berbice Under-19 and Senior Cricketer, Major James Fraser on Sunday 17th of April would be specially honoured by the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club. The highly ranked Guyana Defence Force Officer would
receive the RHTYSC, MS Lifetime Achievement Award for his achievements in Sports, his Military career and for being a positive role model to youths in Rose Hall Town.
President David Granger, Patron of the Club is expected to hand over the Lifetime Achievement Award to Fraser, who overcame dropping out of school at a young age to fulfill his lifelong dream to become a senior Military Official. The forty-two years old Fraser, who still captains the Rose Hall Town Bakewell Second Division team returned to secondary school at the age of twenty five years after dropping out of the JC Chandisingh Secondary School ten years earlier. He successfully passed seven (7) CXC subjects and later joined the Guyana Defence Force’s Cadet Officer Course. He successfully completed the course, became a Cadet Officer and has been promoted to Lieutenant, Captain and his present rank is Major. He has also successfully completed a Diploma in Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health and is now the Commanding Officer at the GDF Agricultural Corp. Over the Years Fraser has also represented the RHTYSC, MS at both the second and first division level in cricket.
Fraser has scored over 7000 runs for the Club with eight centuries at an average of 43.15 and a top score of 190 Versus Albion. He also represented Berbice at the under-19 and senior level and scored a fighting 60 versus Demerara on debut. West Indies pacers Colin Stuart and Reon King were the spearhead of the Demerara attack as Fraser and fellow Club member, Neil Williams featured in an opening partnership of 100.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday last, Managing Director of King’s Jewellery World Mr. Ryan Persaud handed over a Wes Indies Cricket Medallion to the Club. The Medallion would be presented to Major Fraser as part of his Award. Persaud is handing over the US$500 Medallion stated that his company over the last eight years has been pleased to be associated with the RHTYSC, MS and wished the Club more success in the future. Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster hailed the Contribution of King’s and noted that the RHTYSC, MS was grateful for their continued cooperation.
