To participate in countrywide Red Cup Anti Suicide competition
The Orealla/ Siparuta U19 female volleyball team earned the right to represent Berbice in the countrywide Red Cup Anti Suicide Volleyball competition slated for the month of May.
In an elimination game played in Berbice, the girls from the Corentyne river made sure their more than 100miles journey was not in vain as they defeated Black Birds 2-0 in their feature game played last Sunday at the Port Mourant Community Centre all weather court. The Orealla/ Siparuta team won 25-21, 25-18 in a close encounter.
The winning Orealla/Siparuta Combination will now await the other qualifiers from the other regions. The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) having given its commitment and fully participate in and make all its resources available in the fight against suicide, selected the two teams to play an illumination match. It is the first association to complete this process.
So far the BVA has organised and participated in a number of anti suicide activities including walks, lectures, seminars and panel discussions.
