The Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) in a release stated that it will be staging trials for male and female teams for the age categories U-19 and U-23 for the upcoming South American Championships which is being hosted by Confederation of South American Volleyball (CSV).
The release added that interested persons from the Demerara area are being invited to attend the trials which will be held on April 16, at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue at 11:00hrs.
The South American Championships are expected to be held in June and July in Peru and Colombia and this is the first time Guyana will be participating after a number of years.
According to the release, the DVA is excited at the realm of possibilities and is also equally pleased that the opportunity to fulfill its mandate of development of volleyball is bearing fruit.
It is also an excellent way to boost exposure among the youths and therefore the DVA is optimistic that the abundant talent that resides within the Demerara region will be on display on Saturday, the release added.
