During the opening of bids at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), a total of 17 companies vied for the contract to rehabilitate the access road to the Haags Bosch Sanitary Landfill. The engineer’s estimate was $89.4M.
The landfill, which first opened in 2011, is located on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) and is accessible by the Eccles Industrial Site access road.
Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) also put out a contract for the acquisition and supply of spares for vessels. Only one bid was opened, but it was certainly substantial.
In view of the aforementioned contract for the supply of spares for vessels, there were also contracts for companies to carry out the docking and rehabilitation works on the M.V Sabanto. The M.V Sabanto has run aground in the past, necessitating an inquiry at one point.
There was a similar contract for the M.V. Kanawan.
There was one bid for a contract to dock and rehabilitate the M.D Steve N. This will be executed under the Maritime Administrative Department.
Meanwhile, there was also a contract to provide security service to the Ministry of Social Protection.
Catering establishments also competed for a contract to supply and deliver cooked meals to the night shelter, under the Ministry of Social Protection.
There were also bidders who sought a contract to do repair and maintenance works at the Ministry of Education’s, lot 68 Brickdam office. The engineer’s estimate was $8.8M.
In addition, there were bids for repair works to be done on the East Ruimveldt Secondary School fence.
There were two bids for the provision of a new double cab pick-up for the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board (PTCCB).
Under the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), there was a sole bid to provide consultancy services to the Power Utility Upgrade Programme’s management strengthening programme.
Finally, a contract for the provision of metrological equipment also went out, on behalf of Guyana National Bureau of Standards. Only bids from foreign companies were opened.
