International Airline, Fly Jamaica for the second successive year has joined hands with the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, MS as Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation seeks to raise funds for its highly successful Say Yes to Sports Programme.
The Airline has donated an airline ticket to any of its destinations that would be used as the first prize for a Berbice wide raffle.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster in accepting the airline ticket from Fly Jamaica’s local Human Resources Officer, Ashanti Thorne expressed gratitude to the company for its continued assistance.
The Club, he stated places special emphasis on the promotion of sports as it is a safe avenue for youths away from a life of drugs, crime and the evil ways of Satan. The raffle would be a joint effort between the RHTYSC, MS and the Community Relations Department of the Guyana Police Force ‘B’ Division.
Funds raised would be used to purchase sport gears and equipment for selected Clubs and schools in the region. Last year, the raffle raised over $500,000 and was used to purchase school bags and educational materials for over 500 less fortunate students drawn from both Regions 5 and 6.
The Club’s executive also disclosed that would shortly be unveiling a Massive Traffic Education Campaign, a joint project with the Guyana Police Force ‘B’ Division Traffic Department. The Club would also be re-launching its Say No to Drugs, Suicide and Crime programme with Region 5 been added to the programme for 2016 after a highly successful campaign in Region 6.
The main aims of the Say Yes to Sports campaign are to get youths to join a sports Club in their area, to assist them to fulfill their potentials and to provide assistance where possible to Clubs and schools in an effort to get them to promote the importance of sports in the lives of youths.
Foster specially praised the airline’s Marketing Executive Mr. Carl Bowen for his support and cooperation over the last two years. Tickets for the raffle would be available shortly with the price being $100.
Mr. Bowen in brief remarks expressed Fly Jamaica pleasure in assisting the RHTYSC, MS and stated that he was confident that the venture would be successful as it was in 2015.
The experienced airline executive stated that Fly Jamaica is passionate about youths, educational and sports activities and where possible would assist. He encouraged the RHTYSC to continue its outstanding work among youths, the elderly and less fortunate.
