Arjune Reddi, 43, of Albion, Corentyne, Berbice, who was facing two charges of sexual activity with a child walked out of the Berbice High Court a free man after the virtual complainant fail to show up for the matter.
When the matters were called before Justice Franklyn Holder and a mixed jury the accused pleaded not guilty to the two charges.
State Prosecutor Natasha Backer then informed the court that the virtual complainant was absent so she could not lead any evidence.
The man was charged with being engaged in sexual penetration of a ten-year old girl between February 17, 2010 and December 31, 2010 at Albion Village, Corentyne.
He allegedly committed the act again four years later. The second charge read that between January 1 and January 31, 2014, he sexually penetrated the child who was then 13 years old.
After being informed by the Prosecutor of the situation Justice Holder informed the mixed jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty.
The child was said to be a relative of the accused.
