Wade Mentore, 47, of 4 Rainbow City, Mackenzie, Linden was on Tuesday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and fined $30,000 for trafficking in narcotics by Magistrate Clive Nurse.
The convict had appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
On September 18, 2014 Mentore at Mabura Hill was found with 460 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana) in his possession for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 3(11)(a) in the Narcotics Drug Act Chapter 10:10.
In the same court 67-year-old Virgil Harding of South Amelia’s Ward Squatting Area was fined $15,000 or four months’ imprisonment when he appeared before the same Magistrate for disorderly behaviour.
Harding, on April 3, last, at South Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden pleaded guilty to the offence that on the day in question in the presence of Police Constable 23003 Edward Harry of Amelia’s Ward Outpost he behaved disorderly.
Also, 29-year-old Junior Melville of First Street, Silvertown, was further remanded for possession of guns and ammunition without licence contrary to Section (2) (a) of the Firearm Act Chapter 16:05 as amended by the firearm Amendment Act 7/2007.
It is alleged that on August 1, 2015 at Old England, Melville had in his possession one .38 special revolver and five .38 matching rounds of ammunition. He also had one .32 pistol and 11 live rounds .32 ammunition in his possession.
Melville initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea after his last appearance before Magistrate Clive Nurse on Tuesday. Melville was further remanded and will know his fate when he appears before the same Magistrate on April 19.
